Medicity Will Deploy Its Clinical Integration Platform at Englewood Hospital to “Future Proof” Clinical Systems and Give Physicians Options for Accessing Patient Data

Salt Lake City, UT, January 18, 2007—Medicity, Inc., will deploy its Clinical Integration Platform at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center of New Jersey. The system will consolidate all clinical data and allow the Medical Center to position itself to acquire “best of breed” technology in the future. Patient data stored in all departmental systems at the 520-bed regional medical center will be aggregated into a patient-centric, data-staging environment that will alert physicians to completed test results, and highlight results requiring their immediate attention. The Medicity platform makes patient information accessible from any internet-enabled location while continuing to support result delivery through office printers or fax machines.

“In both the inpatient and outpatient setting, providers will have access to their patients’ records across the continuum of care and the ability to display and trend data to suit their practice preferences,” says Dan Markham, Englewood’s Vice President of IT and Diagnostic & Therapeutic Services.

“Englewood is enhancing its integration strategy with a new data repository and staging architecture,” states Diane Caesar, Englewood’s Chief Information Officer. “The new Clinical Integration Platform will provide users with a single point of access to all data in the style and format that any individual physician may choose while meeting organizational security requirements.”

The platform will enforce Englewood Hospital’s privacy policies. The system’s security features give access to patient records based on hospital roles and office staff responsibilities. It empowers designated administrators at physician practices to add and delete their own users within the context of hospital policy. Secure clinical messaging allows physicians to share relevant patient data to expedite the consulting process while insuring confidentiality and privacy.

“We view the platform as way to meet the growing expectation among physicians for convenient access to clinical information and the foundation from which to launch Englewood Hospital’s future initiatives. Plans include physician office EMR connectivity and patient access to their medical record, allowing them to participate more fully in their own care,” states Caesar. The hospital’s new infrastructure is an investment in the future, preparing for data-exchange requirements and evolving technologies consistent with the high standard of care provided at Englewood Hospital.
