Seton Medical Center Adopts Physician Portals to Improve
Medical Care, In and Out of the Hospital

SALT LAKE CITY, UT and DALY CITY, CA, May 17, 2004 - Seton Medical Center, recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the United States for cardiovascular care, has partnered with Medicity, Inc., to create physician portals to heighten patient safety and improve care in it’s 357-bed facility. Physicians on the organization’s medical staff, as well as referring physicians, will soon be able to use any Internet-connected PC to access patient information currently stored in various systems, including Siemens, Misys, and Mars II.

“Increasing numbers of physicians are demanding improved access to clinical data,” said Carol Owen, Vice President of Product Managment. “Solutions like the ProAccess physician portal, which implements the powerful integration capabilities of web services, will help hospitals link information from disparate systems and present it to clinicians in a user-friendly format. It’s a practical alternative to replacing existing systems to achieve integration.”

Seton Medical Center, founded in 1893, is a non-profit facility with more than 600 physicians, and offers the most advanced surgical procedures, treatment options, and comprehensive healthcare services available. Recognized as a one of the top 100 hospitals for cardiovascular services, Seton Medical Center offers exemplary medical, surgical, and specialty programs for spine care, orthopedics, and respiratory. Seton is committed to creating a healthier community. They take pride in offering a warm, caring, and nurturing environment because they believe “Caring is Powerful Medicine.”
