	What is Medicity? Medicity is a secure communications network that empowers physicians and medical professionals with a patent-pending communication model and innovative productivity tools. Medicity is non-exclusive and completely Web-based, reaching beyond the current boundaries of today's enterprise networks to build healthcare communities. Our unique solution brings physicians, nurses, ancillary providers, licensed professionals and healthcare employees to the Medicity site with meaningful, time relevant content.
	Who can join Medicity? Medicity is open to all healthcare organizations and medical professionals. This includes hospitals, medical groups, independent physicians, IPAs, HMOs, ancillary care providers, government agencies, local and national medical associations, and vendors, to name a few.
	How is Medicity different from all the other medical Web sites? Medicity is the first solution that enables users to create their own networked community. Our unique enrollment process allows each member to invite their critical contacts such as hospital, payers, physicians, and special interest groups into their Medicity community. Building a networked community specific to each user empowers information sharing within, between and across disparate organizations; all the while communicating within the confines of a secure and user authenticated work portal. Unlike other healthcare portals that simply aggregate third party content, Medicity understands physicians and employees of healthcare organizations create the most meaningful content for their organization. The Medicity communications model prioritizes the delivery of information based on relevance to each individual user. As your work portal, Medicity gives you the freedom to choose the partners, content, links, tools, and resources you need to make your workday more effective and efficient.
	What is the cost of Medicity? Medicity is free to its members. Premium services, such as practice management, transcription and archival solutions, and eligibility verification are offered through Medicity by outside vendors. Although Medicity is free, some of these services may have a fee associated with them.
	What are the benefits of becoming a Medicity member? All members gain access to the Medicity communications network. This includes the message center, personal inbox, event calendar, document posting, resource directory, personalized content, driving directions, and more. Powered by our secure, patent-pending communication engine, the work portal creates, enhances and extends communities across enterprise boundaries.
	Who controls the content? You do. The power of Medicity is that you control what you see. This allows you to concentrate more on the information you receive without worrying about getting advertisements and other information you don't want. If you feel an affiliate is not providing valuable information, you simply turn off that data provider.
	How do I extend my communities and ensure that my critical contacts can participate? Medicity technology allows you to inform and invite others to participate in Medicity. This participation-by-invitation model ensures that you can build and extend your networked community and tailor it to your exact requirements and workday needs.
	Our organization has an Intranet. Why would we use Medicity? Most intranets contain static information about an organization. Medicity on the other hand, provides dynamic, interactive access to visit those within your organization, as well as providing personalized information and communication with those with whom you do business outside of your organization. The Medicity model allows you to create networked communities that extend far beyond your enterprise walls.
	Can I continue to offer existing electronic services to my affiliates through the Medicity work portal? Medicity has the ability to provide a secure and authenticated single log in, allowing you to provide existing services as though they were part of Medicity. Your affiliates get everything they need in one place.
	What support does Medicity offer to its membership? Although Medicity is easy to use, we provide the necessary hands-on support and training to ensure a quick and successful integration of the Medicity work portal. As each member of your organization is added to the system, we work with you to define their specific relationships both within your setting and with all of their affiliates. In other words, we establish with whom each member would like to communicate, and from whom they would like to receive critical information. We verify that your organization has the necessary technical infrastructure to support Medicity, and work with your administrative personnel throughout the integration process. We also provide ongoing training to your staff, including written and on-line user manuals and training materials, access to our 24-hour customer service support center, software licenses and the necessary support for new releases.
	Will Medicity sell my data? Medicity is committed to a secure, private environment and will never distribute your personal information without your permission. Medicity also restricts its sponsors and advertisers from disclosing information gathered from their cookies to any third-party. 	What has Medicity done to ensure the security of the site? In tandem with Medicity's strong privacy policy, the Medicity network is also protected against intrusive access to member and patient information. Medicity has developed a secure network through the use of firewalls, encryption and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to protect sensitive information and meet the proposed HIPAA standards. Medicity is actively engaged in continuous efforts to improve and promote Internet healthcare security through its charter membership in the 11-19 Working Group. Medicity is committed to the 11-19 Working Group's mission, which is to develop and firmly establish security standards for Internet-based healthcare information transactions.
