IASIS Healthcare Selects Medicity to Establish
Internet Connectivity Platform and Physician Communication
Network at 15 Hospitals
SALT
LAKE CITY, UT —
Medicity, a leading innovator in secure e-health solutions,
announced today it has signed a three-year agreement with
IASIS Healthcare to provide secure Internet communication
links between each of its hospitals and its 4,500 affiliated
physicians.
Under
the terms of the contract, IASIS Healthcare, a hospital
and healthcare services company based in Franklin, Tenn.,
will use Medicity's network to deliver clinical results
to physicians through IASIS' existing hospital systems,
located in Arizona, Florida, Texas and Utah.
"Medicity
will help us achieve optimal efficiencies by offering
leading-edge Internet connectivity and services to our
community of hospitals and physicians," said Sammy
Cantrell, corporate director of information systems at
IASIS Healthcare. "Medicity's network uses the Internet
to place usable, timely and valuable information securely
into the hands of our physicians. And as we seek additional
Internet connectivity and services, Medicity's network
will be able to accommodate our changing needs--all with
a single logon and unbeatable security infrastructure."
Medicity's
rollout is already underway in three of IASIS' Florida
hospitals. "Our physicians have been asking us for
Internet access to our hospital laboratory, radiology,
pharmacy dictation and patient demographic data. Medicity
has the infrastructure capabilities to provide the connectivity
our physicians have been waiting for, including a level
of security that exceeds anticipated HIPAA requirements,"
said Cantrell.
"Medicity's
technology supports IASIS' clear vision to utilize innovative
technology to provide high-quality of care," said
Kipp Lassetter, CEO of Medicity. "With Medicity,
IASIS can provide secure, Internet-based access to its
existing clinical information systems, helping it avoid
the high costs of meeting today's quality and security
standards. Web-based clinical information has proven to
be a compelling Internet solution for doctors, bringing
them to their Medicity desktop multiple times a day."
