Connecting Providers with the Direct Project
iNexx is designed to connect every provider in a community. But Medicity also supports the Direct Project.
What is the Direct Project? It is a federal government standard designed to enable simple, secure, email-based exchange of clinical documentation between providers.
We support the Direct Project by equipping our clients to offer Health Information Service Provider (HISP) services to their communities. As HISPs, our customers can assign and administer a health domain address (similar to an email address) for each provider in their network. We also store and maintain the security certificates required to ensure that Direct Project communication takes place over a trusted “health Internet.”
With a secure health domain address, a provider can exchange clinical documentation with providers or patients registered with a HISP anywhere in the United States.
Medicity is now providing HISP services to Gorge Health Connect in Oregon as they undertake one of the initial Direct Project pilots.
Two of our state HIE clients – Ohio and Colorado – will be among the first states to offer HISP services using our technology.
